Taste And See

Taste and see that Yahweh, the Lord, is good. Can I hear an amen? Amen. This breezy, heartwarming autumn season has given me chills down my spine. Most mornings, I sip my coffee, eagerly waiting for God to reveal His plans for me. Other days, I find rest in His abounding grace. There are days I feel as though my emotions are blending and brewing. Can you depict what I taste? I taste loss and I taste victory. I taste serenity and sometimes something unsettling. Some say you win some, while others say you lose some. I am learning how to make faithful attempts in learning. I am acquainted with growing pains and experiential learning.

Amidst it all, I can attest to God’s faithfulness and abilities. I have experienced days of discomfort, and I understand what it is like to become weary. The bitterness I tasted from those experiences left vivid memories. Can you remember the last time you tasted something unappealing? I can also testify about my joyful memories. Memories that tickle my spirit and are pretty amusing. Memories that are notable for being inspiring.

Psalm 34:8-10 – “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.

Lacking Nothing

The woman I am becoming is learning that I have every ingredient I need for immeasurable success. When I sit down at the dinner table on Thanksgiving Day, I can delight in what is significant. Having it all together or seeing life pull itself completely together is impossible to wish for. If my family and I do not have every dish and side dish we desire, that is okay. If some of the ingredients I hope would be in one of the dishes are not there, that is also alright. Why? I already have the most essential ingredient. That is Jesus Christ.

The Season of life I am in involves exploration and discovery. God told me I am learning all about the woman I am becoming.

Are You Hungry?

If you are hungry for the truth and enrichment, go to God for it. If you need life-changing experiences, go to God for them. God describes Himself as life-giving. His involvement in the lives of believers attests to the truth that He is the Bread of Life and Living Water (John 6:35; John 7:37-39).

Psalm 23:5-6 – “You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”

I have tasted good and bad things. I benefit tremendously from God’s goodness. Life is a journey and adventure. Life provides me with plenty of opportunities to taste and see the goodness of God. This undertaking requires faith, endurance, and loyalty to God. Pray for me as I faithfully pursue God’s will. I pray that this month and for the rest of your days, you will earnestly seek God and taste His everlasting goodness.
